Process Printing:
The following must be supplied with a purchase order for four color process printing:
- Macintosh disk, cd or files via e-mail
We print many fine labels with four (4) process colors or up to six (6) spot colors here at NEQP. On electronic file jobs, we usually do our own color separation and trapping in-house. Note: variations in final printed color may appear. If color match is a critical requirement, a sample must be sent by mail.
Helpful reminders for art departments on color separation issues:
- If you know that the job is going to be a 4-color process job, convert any Pantone or other color system spot colors to process before sending us the file. We suggest laser printing your color separations to ensure that you don't have unexpected spot colors. If we encounter an unusual situation, you will be charged extra for artwork, diagnosis, and problem solving.
- We prefer scanned images to be saved as TIFF files rather than EPS files. However, we can work with both. Be sure to convert a scanned color image to CMYK before saving it.
- Whenever possible, convert text to paths to avoid font issues. Always send the fonts in any case.
- Please remember that for four color process printing the maximum print width is 6.5" ; maximum print depth is 14.875" repeat. For less than four color printing, the maximum print width is 9.5" and the maximum print depth is 16" repeat.
- If you have manipulated the electronic file to produce an additional color from spot colors by overprinting screens, please send a note with your file to alert the mac operator.
- If you have any concerns about the information contained here, please call and ask to speak to Cathy.
